The seventh meeting of the 2009-2010 Wittenberg Saturday Science program is scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 20, in the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center, featuring a presentation titled “Springfield’s Animal Community” by Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Richard Phillips.
KidStage, a theatre program for kids in grades 3-7, will hold its next workshop on March 17 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. The workshop's presenter will be Rebecca Baker, a theatre professor at Cedarville University.

Wittenberg University Department of Theatre and Dance recently welcomed John Cassel, class of 1998, “home” as he returned to campus to oversee the production of his play Janey Miller’s World Tour: a fairy tale. He was on campus briefly in late February and will return again in mid-April to work with current theatre students and faculty and spend time at the university that prepared him for a successful career in New York.

Ten recipients of the Springfield City Schools “2010 Alumni of Distinction Award” have been chosen steering committee, chairperson Geraldine E. Stafford announced today. State Senator Chris Widener (R-Springfield) today announced that the Director of the Ohio Department of Development has released $85,000 in Emergency Discretionary Funds for the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Springfield. The funds will be used for the renovation and conversion of an existing building into an emergency shelter for homeless men.
The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will present the Springfield Youth Orchestras in concert on Saturday, March 27 at 3:00 pm in Kuss Auditorium at the Clark State Performing Arts Center. Center City Association is pleased to announce the first annual CCA Clark County High School Choir Invitational on Sunday, March 7, 2010. The competition begins at 1pm at the Wittenberg University HPER Center and is open to all to cheer on and vote for their favorite choirs and songs. Eight traditional and show choirs from area high schools will perform up to fifteen minutes of material to compete for trophies and cash prizes. General admission tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Floor seating tickets are also available for $10 each.
An accident at the intersection of Routes 41 and 235 north of New Carlisle has sent several people, including children, to area hospitals. The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Patrol is still investigating the crash, so few details are avaliable at this time. The accident occurred shortly after noon Saturday.
